What Our Philosophy Means To Us
Since its establishment in 1987, Stratford Community Childcare Centre has faithfully embraced the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa, using the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti O Waitangi as a cornerstone of its philosophy. By fostering strong relationships (whanaungatanga) with tamariki and their whānau, the centre has built a community grounded in mutual respect, open communication, and shared goals. Embracing the diversity of Stratford, the centre promotes manaakitanga, creating an inclusive environment where every child is valued for their unique contributions and nurtured to develop confidence in their identity. Additionally, through the principle of kaitiakitanga, the centre instills in children a sense of guardianship, teaching them sustainable practices and fostering a commitment to caring for the environment. In doing so, Stratford Community Childcare Centre continually works towards a future where learners are innovative, respectful, and responsible citizens.
